Gothic Georgian earrings, fresh out of a collector’s vault and looking every inch so. These are solid 14k gold, likely to be dipped in silver, as was the practice then to fabricate ‘white gold’.
The rose-cut hand-cleaved diamonds are flat and wild and primitive-looking, with an imperfect beauty unlike today’s diamonds. There are eight diamonds, two smaller, the rest almost equal slightly over 2mm. Circa 1750 to 1780.
